Job Overview:

The British Museum offers a variety of internship programs designed to provide students and recent graduates with hands-on experience in a dynamic and educational environment. Interns will work closely with museum professionals across various departments, including curation, education, conservation, and administration, to support the museum’s mission and operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist curatorial staff with research, cataloging, and documentation of artifacts.
- Support the Education Department in the development and delivery of educational programs and resources.
- Aid the Conservation Department with the preservation and restoration of collection items.
- Participate in the planning and execution of exhibitions and special events.
- Contribute to administrative tasks such as data entry, correspondence, and report preparation.
- Engage with visitors, providing information and enhancing their museum experience.
- Collaborate on special projects and initiatives as assigned by supervisors.
Job Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a relevant academic program (e.g., museum studies, history, archaeology, art history, anthropology).
- Strong interest in museum work and a passion for cultural heritage.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with museum database systems is a plus.
- Previous museum or related experience is desirable but not required.
