Job Overview:
Cafcass, short for Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service, is a crucial organization in the UK legal system. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as interns. The Cafcass Internship offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the legal and social work sectors, particularly in matters concerning children and families. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced professionals, contributing to real cases and making a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children.
Job Responsibilities:
- Case Support: Assist Cafcass practitioners in conducting assessments and investigations related to child welfare cases.
- Research: Conduct research on relevant legal and social issues affecting children and families involved in court proceedings.
- Documentation: Prepare reports, case summaries, and other documents to support Cafcass practitioners in their casework.
- Court Assistance: Attend court hearings and meetings with Cafcass practitioners to observe legal proceedings and support case management.
- Client Interaction: Interact with children, families, and other stakeholders to gather information and provide support under the guidance of Cafcass professionals.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining case records.
Job Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate program (e.g., law, social work, psychology, sociology).
- Strong interest in children’s rights, family law, and social justice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sensitivity and empathy when dealing with sensitive issues and vulnerable populations.
- Commitment to upholding Cafcass’s values of fairness, impartiality, and child-centeredness.
