Job Overview:

The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) is an independent organization established to investigate possible miscarriages of justice in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Our mission is to review alleged wrongful convictions and refer cases to the Court of Appeal if there is a real possibility that a conviction will not be upheld. Job Responsibilities:

  • Case Research: Conduct thorough research into cases referred to the CCRC, including reviewing trial transcripts, evidence, and legal documentation.
  • Analysis: Analyze case materials to identify potential issues, inconsistencies, or new evidence that may warrant further investigation.
  • Documentation: Assist in the preparation of case summaries, reports, and recommendations for the CCRC Commissioners.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with CCRC staff, legal professionals, and external stakeholders to gather information and support case reviews.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support as needed, including organizing case files, scheduling meetings, and maintaining databases.

  • Legal Background: Pursuing or completed a degree in law, criminology, or a related field.
  • Research Skills: Strong research skills with the ability to analyze complex legal documents and case materials.
